NJCU’s History Department prepares students to become critical thinkers, strong communicators and informed citizens who add significant value to their workplaces and communities. Our faculty is student-centered and passionate about bringing history to life. Their specialties are as diverse as our student body, and they are sought-after experts in the discipline. They are dedicated to helping students learn, grow and succeed.

We offer coursework that aligns with a broad range of interests. Students can gain a solid foundation in American history and even New Jersey history, as well as a global view through African, Asian, Middle Eastern, Eastern and Western European, Caribbean, and Latin American history. We also offer coursework in topics like sports, elections, cities, punishment, the military and more.
