The Jewelry/Metals concentration prepares students with the technical knowledge, critical thinking, and aesthetic skills that they need to succeed as artists and craftspeople. Students become knowledgeable in the various materials and techniques needed to create body adornment in both traditional and experimental forms. In this area of study, students explore the relationship of jewelry and metals to the human body and the way in which this relationship inspires artists to create expressive jewelry. The Jewelry/Metals Concentration attracts a diverse group of students with highly varied goals. Students are prepared for careers as designers and professional jewelers who produce one-of-a-kind or commercial pieces.
