The Department of Teaching, Learning, and Literacy is committed to preparing New Jersey educators to teach in an ever-evolving world.

We aim to:

  • Prepare reflective, skilled, and equity-based educators at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Commit to the belief that education is transformative, empowering & that social justice can be best accomplished through an educated citizenry
  • Inform educational theory and practice through research and experiential learning opportunities for students
  • Dedicate our instruction to cultivate critical and analytical thinkers & problem-solvers who will work in school settings mostly focused on the urban student populations
